Brendan Rodgers has admitted there are no imminent arrivals at Celtic but remains confident the club will strengthen before the transfer window shuts.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Aberdeen, the Hoops boss made it clear he knows exactly where the squad needs improving and says work is ongoing behind the scenes to get deals over the line.
There hasnt been many rumours regarding incomings this week, so this update from the manager doesn’t really come as a surprise.
“There’s no news, no, I’ve got nothing new for you,” Rodgers said to Clyde 1 Super Scoreboard. “It’s very clear what we need to improve and a lot of work going on, clearly. We’re hoping that we can conclude some deals and improve the squad.
“I think the board have shown over many years, numbers of years, that the work will get done. And obviously as a group that run the club and have run it so well for so many years, they have to get what they will feel is the best value for the players. Of course, as coaches and managers and supporters, you want the best players.
“But ultimately the club will be running in a way that makes sure that both the best players and the best value is there to be made.”
Celtic have made seven signings so far this summer, but with the manager repeatedly stating the need for attacking reinforcements, attention will be on whether those additions arrive in time to make an impact in the Champions League qualifiers later this month.
Not much has been spent in terms of transfer fees, with Shin Yamada only costing the club £1.5m, and that’s the highest fee forked out, so far.
Last week, Brendan Rodgers admitted that maybe he wasn’t convincing the board enough to get some new faces through the door. Since then, Simpson-Pusey has arrived on loan at Parkhead, but that was a deal that was widely reported for the week leading up to the first game of the season, which the defender was in the stands for.
