Any lingering hopes Celtic might have of making a move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson have likely been dashed after the Premier League club reportedly slapped a staggering £28 million price tag on the young Irishman.

Ferguson, 20, has been loosely linked with a move to Parkhead this summer, but these reports have always appeared speculative. Now, if Celtic did hold any interest in the striker, they’ve been made well aware of the financial mountain they’d need to climb.
The valuation is nearly three times Celtic’s current transfer record – the £11 million fee paid for Arne Engels last summer – and would represent a major leap into uncharted territory for the Scottish champions.
Ferguson broke onto the scene with Brighton in the 2022/23 season and has been viewed as one of Ireland’s brightest prospects in a generation. Despite a quieter campaign last year, the Seagulls remain firm on his value, believing the 20-year-old has the potential to develop into one of Europe’s top forwards.
He’s said to be attracting interest from Premier League sides Fulham and Nottingham Forrest. [Footy Insider]
With Celtic already bolstering their forward line this summer and Callum Osmand joining the ranks, it seems highly unlikely the Hoops would entertain a move at anything close to Brighton’s asking price.
