Celtic are closing in on the loan signing of Shane Duffy and the current Brighton chairman has paid tribute to the player’s attitude and character during his time at the club.
Paul Barber and Brighton have been locked in talks with Celtic over the weekend, thrashing out a deal which would see Shane make the move to his boyhood heroes.

As the deal edges closer, Barber can’t speak highly enough of the defender:
“Shane has been absolutely magnificent for us, literally from the day he joined.” Berber told SunSport.
“He is a massive character on the pitch, but an even bigger character off it. He is loved by everyone at the club.
“We will be disappointed if we do lose him, but we also understand he wants to play football.

“It is a difficult decision for the manager because there are only so many centre-backs you can accommodate in one line-up.
“We will be talking about Shane’s future imminently, but he has been a fantastic servant for the club.”
Celtic are in need of some defensive reinforcements. Letting Jozo go in May has left a gap in the squad. Neil Lennon could also confidently call upon his 3-5-2 formation with a back three of Jullien, Ajer and Duffy’s
The international break is upon us but it does seem as if the next time Celtic play, Shane will be a Celtic player.

He could turn out to be an invaluable signing in the grand scheme of this season. So much is at stake and he knows exactly what’s expected.
