Brendan Rodgers’s Perfect Response to Barry Ferguson Question

Brendan Rodgers refused to be drawn into discussing Barry Ferguson’s appointment as Rangers interim boss, focusing solely on Celtic’s task at hand against Aberdeen.

Ferguson, who has been out of management for three years, has struggled in his previous roles at Clyde, Kelty Hearts, and Alloa Athletic. But despite that record, Rangers have turned to their former captain in a desperate attempt to salvage their season. But it’s fine, he drives an Orange Ford Ranger and he just gets it!

With the Ibrox side 16 points behind Celtic, Ferguson faces an uphill battle, but Rodgers made it clear he wasn’t wasting any time thinking about events across the city.

Speaking to BBC ahead of the Aberdeen match, Rodgers was asked about Rangers’ managerial change but shut it down instantly, saying:

“With the greatest respect, I’m concentrating on Celtic vs Aberdeen, and that’s my only focus.”

It was a no-nonsense response from the Celtic boss, who then watched his side blow Aberdeen away in the first half at Parkhead. Goals from Daizen Maeda, Jota,Yang and Callum McGregor wrapped up a comfortable 5-1 win, extending Celtic’s lead at the top to 16 points with just 10 games remaining.

Ferguson will get his first chance in the dugout tonight against Killie, but regardless of how Rangers fare, it seems inevitable that Rodgers and his Celtic side are cruising towards a fourth consecutive league title.
