Brendan Rodgers Targets Celtic Managerial History

Brendan Rodgers has opened up about his desire to complete another domestic clean sweep and make history by becoming Celtic’s first manager to secure three trebles.

Rodgers, who has already achieved great success at the Hoops over the years, spoke about his motivation to continue pushing the team towards further glory, reflecting on how he approaches every game with the same drive as his first.

Rodgers revealed that despite his previous success, he never loses the hunger to win.

He said: (TCW), “I think I’ve always tried to approach these like it’s my very first time. I never get tired of it.

“I never expect it. The preparation and the mentality, because I know each game is harder. Because the teams are really motivated to win.

“But there was nobody more motivated to win than me. To keep the club succeeding, demanding more from the players and our staff. And that’s why we have success.

“Nobody goes through the motions here at Celtic. We never get too carried away when we win. We have to keep our humility because we know we have to work even harder.”

Rodgers is simply a one-off in terms of the success he’s had at Celtic. His record at Hampden is a one-off as well.

If he can beat Aberdeen next month, it will be an unbelievable achievement, edging him closer to Martin O’Neill. However, unless he reaches a European Cup final like O’Neill did in 2003, he likely won’t be seen in the same light.

With one year remaining on his current Celtic deal, the Hoops hierarchy will be desperate to tie Rodgers down long-term, as his second spell has shown even more than his first the hunger, emotion, and European progression he brings.

It’s a no-brainer for the Celtic board to offer Rodgers a new deal and back him as much as he needs in the summer transfer window ahead of the Champions League qualifiers in August.
