BRENDAN RODGERS has been full of praise for his star striker Odsonne Edouard and strangely felt like he had to defend him after he bagged a brace at the weekend against Hibs.
The young Frenchman was in top form for Celtic as they steamrolled Hibernian 4-2 in an exciting game at Celtic Park.
The £9million man could have bagged his hat-trick at the end but was unlucky.
There’s been criticism of Edouard this season for not scoring so many in the early going but the Celtic manager has defended his striker and admits he’s had to play the big lad out of position on several occasions.
“He’s a top-class player.” Rodgers gushed.
“He’s played out of position at times, so he’s had to forfeit a little bit for the team.
“But if you look at his stats when he plays as striker, he’s a goalscorer.”
The player has scored four goals in Celtic’s last three games; one against Salzburg, one against St Johnstone and two at the weekend.
The team look back to their best in terms of attacking. They must not look to close the gaps and not fall asleep to concede goals which are entirely avoidable.
