Brendan Rodgers Speaks on Kwon’s St Mirren Loan Move

Brendan Rodgers has expressed his satisfaction with Hyeok-kyu Kwon’s development during his loan spell at St Mirren, highlighting the valuable playing time the Korean midfielder has been getting with the Scottish Premiership side.

Since moving to St Mirren in January, Kwon has made 7 appearances, impressing both the club and fans with his performances.

He scored a wonderful goal a few weeks back, but VAR chopped it off for a foul in the build-up. However, you could see just how much it meant to the player by his celebrations, before VAR ruled it out.

Rodgers noted the importance of Kwon gaining match experience, acknowledging the difficulty in providing enough game time within Celtic’s large squad.

The fact that St Mirren is keen on securing another loan deal for Kwon in the summer is a testament to his impact at the club and suggests that the move has been beneficial for all parties involved.

“Again, it’s an opportunity to go and play,” he said to the Herald.

“We are really pleased. I spoke to Stephen, he needed game time with the squad being too big here.

“He is a talented player and hopefully he has gone and shown that and the guys are really delighted with him there.”
