Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic romped to a 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle on Sunday evening. Goals from Paulo Bernardo, Odin Holm, Kyogo, Luis Palma, and Rocco Vata helped the Hoops to victory.
It was a professional performance from The Bhoys, but there could have been many more goals. Indeed, the holders had countless disallowed strikes due to offside.
There was also a penalty claim for the Celts in the first half. Liel Abada went down in the box, and it was checked.
It seemed as though a spot-kick would have been awarded, although it was eventually found that there was an offside in the build-up and the Celts were denied the chance to net from 12 yards.

Although it was the correct decision, the process by which it was made was ineffective. Hoops manager Rodgers spoke about this post-match: “It shouldn’t be looked at because it’s offside”, he said (Clyde 1).
“But they had to, for some reason, as protocol, according to the fourth official, they have to look to see if it’s a penalty first before they look to disallow it because it’s offside which just seems ridiculous, really.
“If it’s offside then the penalty doesn’t even matter, as we know.”
Undoubtedly, Rodgers is getting a veiled dig in at his team’s city rivals with his final comments here.
At Parkhead in December, Rangers were up in arms about a penalty they weren’t given. The saga rumbled on for weeks with countless statements being made but throughout the debacle, it was known Abdallah Sima was offside in the lead-up.
Due to this, a penalty should never have been in consideration, and that is what Rodgers believes regarding today’s events that were of a similar ilk.
