Brendan Rodgers’ Savage Comments After Glasgow Derby

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers masterminded yet another Glasgow derby victory on Saturday afternoon. The Irishman’s team ran out fully deserved 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo Furuhashi.

Post-match, the Hoops gaffer spoke to the media and made a valid claim about the hype that seems to surround Rangers going into each derby: “I’ve been up against five Rangers managers over my two spells here”, he said (Clyde 1 Superscoreboard). “Every time at some point Rangers ‘were coming’…every time. So for me, it’s normal”

Yet again, the Govan side did not live up to the expectations and frenzy that surrounded them before this afternoon’s match. Celtic silenced many with a victory that they fully merited.

In the early stages and for lots of the first half, the Celts seemed to be on top. This carried on into the second 45, where the game was eventually decided by a wonderful Kyogo strike and the sending-off of Leon Balogun.

This Saturday night, everyone of a green and white persuasion will be more than satisfied, as will Rodgers who, once more, has put an end to the hype surrounding his team’s cross-city rivals.
