Brendan Rodgers Reveals Kyogo Shoulder Surgery Timeline

Brendan Rodgers has discussed how long Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi would be out if he were to undergo shoulder surgery.

Rodgers said: (The Herald),“He (Kyogo) could have surgery, but it takes him out for probably about four months.

“It’s only him that can decide that. Because you see a lot of times he gets through games fine. But then times he’ll fall, maybe it’ll be awkward, and he has an irritation.

“But listen, he’s a 29-year-old man now, so he’ll understand what he wants to do. But again, he’s managed it for a longer period, much longer than he’s been at Celtic.

“I gave him the time. We could have had him back into the Hibs game, but I gave him the time to miss the game and then I’ll speak to him on Monday.”

Kyogo is therefore unlikely to undergo surgery, having managed the issue for so long.

With a four-month recovery timeline if he were to have surgery, it’s unlikely that he will do so while still a Celtic player, unless the injury causes him further pain.

But with the Japanese striker looking a little off his game at times and is by no means criticism of him as a player, but more a reflection of the unbelievable standards he has set at Celtic, the shoulder issue likely played a part in his dip in form last season.
