A reunion with Rodgers would have been an intriguing prospect, given their successful stint together at Leicester. However, it appears that Amartey’s future lies in Turkey rather than Scotland.
For Celtic, missing out on Amartey isn’t a blow, it was never realistic that the midfielder would come to Celtic, especially given the wages he was on down south.
Celtic have already turned their attention to other targets with Kwon from South Korea, the defensive midfielder has all but completed his move to the Hoops. He’ll join Odin Holm, another midfielder who made the move to Celtic this summer.
Rodgers’ connection with Amartey had made Celtic a potential destination for the Ghanaian, and was linked by various outlets because of the link.
