Brendan Rodgers has responded in typical fashion to the recent speculation linking Jose Mourinho with the Celtic job, delivering a brilliant one-liner when asked about the Portuguese manager.

Rodgers and Mourinho have a long-standing relationship and seem to be quite close, with Rodgers famously gifting him some wine, which the Portuguese manager interrupted an interview to share.
But with Mourinho recently asked about the possibility of managing in Scotland, Rodgers was quick to play it down with a bit of humour.
“I’ve heard he’s taken my job! So, yes, listen, he’s a great man. You guys would love him up here. Plenty of headlines for you, instead of the boring Irishman that’s sat here. But, no, he’s good value, Jose, and obviously a top manager.” [RecordSport]
While the idea of Mourinho in the Celtic dugout may generate excitement, Chris Sutton has already dismissed the possibility, arguing that Celtic should offer Rodgers a new deal instead. With the League Cup already won, the league all but secured, and a Scottish Cup semi-final place up for grabs, Rodgers is once again proving his worth.
Rodgers is overseeing Celtic take steps forward, last year in Europe, Celtic were just behind their competition. This year, Celtic were competitive in the league stage, qualifying for the knockout round, where they narrowly lost to Bayern Munich, seconds away from taking the German league leaders to extra time. Next season, Celtic will look to continue progressing in Europe, as Rodgers envisioned and convince the gaffer to put pen to paper on a new contract.
