Brendan Rodgers Reacts To Kilmarnock Defeat

Celtic were left rattled by Kilmarnock in a hapless 2-1 defeat at Rugby Park this afternoon. The Hoops did in no way live up to expectations in Ayrshire.

Post-match, manager Brendan Rodgers appeared rather laid back, compared to the anger he showed last week against St. Johnstone. He said (Sky Sports): “We have to be better. We showed in the first half some great moments of play and I thought we showed really good speed in the game.

“Second-half we didn’t do that and we weren’t resistant enough in any pressure we faced so that’s what we have to focus on going forward.”

Going by Rodgers’ reaction to last weekend’s performance in the first half against St. Johnstone, one may have thought the Irishman would have been more angry today. Rather, he praised his team’s first-half performance and wasn’t overly critical of their display in the second forty-five.

Despite this, the loss is hugely concerning. Things must get better in the coming weeks because rapidly appearing on the horizon is a crucial Glasgow Derby.
