Brendan Rodgers has hailed the arrival of Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, with the Manchester City defender completing a season-long loan to Celtic on Tuesday.

It was just a waiting game until The Hoops confirmed the deal, with the defednder passing his medical on Friday before he was spotted at the game against St Mirren on Thursday, dressed in his new Celtic training gear.
The 19-year-old centre-back becomes the club’s seventh signing of the summer window and arrives highly rated, having captained City’s youth side to the Premier League 2 title and scooping the division’s Player of the Year award.
Rodgers, speaking to Celtic TV, expressed his satisfaction with the Man City loan signing:
“I am really pleased we have been able to bring Jahmai to Celtic and I believe he will be an important, quality addition to our squad.
“Jahmai is a quick, dominant centre-half. He is a strong defender, but can also move the ball forward very well as we progress through the pitch.
“I know Jahmai is excited about this move and bringing him to the club creates even more competition which will only benefit us.
“I am sure he will settle in well with the squad as we get ready for the matches we have coming up at home and abroad.”
Simpson-Pusey will join the pool of central defenders that includes Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales, Dane Murray and Stephen Welsh — though the latter could still leave before the end of the window.
With Champions League qualifiers looming, Rodgers will be hoping the City loanee can get up to speed quickly.
The gaffer played a big part in the signing, with Simpson-Pusey admitting that a phone call between the pair played a big role. The defender will wear the number 4 at Celtic, most recently worn by Gustaf Lagerbielke and Carl Starfelt.
