Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the timeline for Daizen Maeda’s knee injury.
With Maeda having suffered the injury during a collision against Chelsea in pre-season, many were concerned about how long the Japanese international would be out, as knee injuries often lead to extended periods on the sidelines.
But Rodgers has provided an update that will relieve much of the Celtic support.

Rodgers said: (Sky Sports Scotland), “If you seen the clash of knees he had in the Chelsea game, we thought initially it was going to be worse, but hopefully he will be out on the pitch next week, and then we’ll assess it from there. It’s just going to be week to week, really.”
Often a calm and measured figure, Rodgers has once again eased concerns with an open and honest approach to discussing Maeda’s injury.
His positive update comes as a welcome surprise to some, especially after seeing the Japanese winger missing from the squad for today’s match against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park.
Hopefully, Maeda will be back as quickly as possible, as with him in the team, Celtic are simply a different side.
