Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, Kyogo, and Tomoki Iwata all scored for Celtic in their 4-1 win over Hearts on Sunday. It was James Forrest, though, that manager Brendan Rodgers praised post-match.
The veteran winger was introduced for the final 25 minutes. On him, Rodgers said (Sky Sports): “The substitutions came in and made a really good contribution, I thought James Forrest was absolutely brilliant when he came into the game and overall, delighted with the performance and result.”

Forrest won’t start many games this season, although he has and will continue to rack up substitute appearances. Today was no different, and his gaffer was clearly pleased with how he did.
A homegrown talent, the 32-year-old has been at Celtic his whole career. One imagines this will remain true for the rest of his playing days. Having players like him in and around the club is crucial, and the current Parkhead gaffer recognises this.
