In the aftermath of Celtic’s thrilling and closely fought victory against Motherwell, manager Brendan Rodgers praised the resilience, spirit, and unyielding mentality of his team.

The side left it late, scoring in the 87th and 87th minute, while Motherwell pulled it back to 1-1 in the 96th minute, something which reminded Brendan Rodgers of his only other win at Fir Park, when Tom Rogic scored to make it 4-3 in the 90th minute, after coming back from 2-0 down during his first stint at the club.
Reacting to the match, Brendan Rodgers said: [Clyde 1]
“It’s what my teams have always done, it’s what Celtic does. You need the players to deliver and play with the calmness.
“I was here a few years back and won a late one with Tom Rogic, and I thought that was as close as we’d get to winning a game late on, but that was a great response from the players, incredible mentality.
“And I said to them afterward, this club’s history is built on many late goals, that’s what Celtic does, but you have to have the will and desire to keep on going.”
It ended up being a great away day for the club, and did eventually see them pick up the three points.
It was a decent overall performance, but there was a lack of creativity in the final third.
The attention now turns to Wednesday, with Lazio lying in wait for the second matchday of the Champions League group stage.
