Brendan Rodgers has opened the door to contract talks with Celtic after guiding the club to their 55th league title. With his current deal set to expire at the end of next season, the Irishman says discussions with the board are likely to take place this summer.

Speaking after the celebrations, Rodgers suggested the timing was right to start thinking about the future — though he made clear the final call lies with the club.
He said: (The Scotsman), “I haven’t seen him but I spoke to him in the week. We’ll catch up sometime over the summer, I’m pretty sure. Listen, it’s up to the club (whether there are contract talks). The club might think three years is enough of me and that’s it!
“But we’ll speak about the team. It’s always what is most important for Celtic.
“I wanted us to focus on this season and have no distractions, just focus on performance and winning.
“And then when there’s a bit of spare time at the end of the season, we can chat around that. But there’s no rush.”

For now, Celtic supporters will be focused on celebrating a hard-earned title. But Rodgers’ words will raise hopes that he could remain in to build on the success long-term. The ball, for the moment, is in the club’s court.
