Brendan Rodgers Makes Celtic Vow

BRENDAN RODGERS has no time to dwell on the Valencia disappointment with the games coming thick and fast domestically and has vowed to have his side ready for a tough game this weekend.

If the bhoys were to dwell too much on proceedings against the Spaniards they could find themselves in big trouble in the league. The team head to Rugby Park for the second time this season in the SPFL knowing full well they were beaten 2-1 the last time. Kilmarnock are still doing very well and cause problems for the stronger teams in the league.

Speaking about the game and what he expects from his players, the Irishman was rightfully keen to shake off the disappointment of Thursday night.

“Kilmarnock is always a tough game for us.” The Celtic manager told Record Sport.

“We have to recover from Thursday, which we will do, and then expect a tough game.

“The players will be ready. The energy we have had after the break has been good. The team has been playing quickly, creating opportunities and taking the chances.

“Unbeaten, defensively strong, we haven’t made many mistakes, and as a team, we have pressed the game very well. So we will need to be that at Kilmarnock.

“They will have had a full week to prepare and they will bring that energy into the game, so we need to be able to match that and then to make no mistakes.”

Celtic are six points ahead of second place as we enter the final third of the SPFL this season. The bhoys are rightfully top of the league but they have made things difficult for themselves with a poor away record this term. It’s up Rodgers to get his team prepared and ready to lay down a marker for the final push towards eight in a row.
