Celtic were eventual winners on Sunday afternoon against a stubborn St. Johnstone side. The Hoops were poor in the first half, and manager Brendan Rodgers was livid at the break.
The Hoops gaffer spoke to Sky Sports after the game. He said: “It’s probably the angriest I’ve ever been at half-time as a manager.”
Rodgers went on, scathing the levels of some of his players. He stated: “Some players want to be comfortable and do enough, and that’s not enough at this club.”
In the first 45, there is no denying that the champions were not up to the standard. For supporters, it is encouraging that Rodgers recognised this.
As the match went on, the Bhoys undoubtedly reacted to what their gaffer said at the break. In the second 45, the Celts came to life and scored three quality goals to earn three crucial points.
Midweek against Hibernian, the Irishman will ensure his team does not play the way they did in the first half this afternoon. It was an extremely poor showing although in the end, the outcome was positive.
