Nicolas Kuhn Injury Latest: Tannadice Absence and Potential Return Timeline

Brendan Rodgers has discussed the reason behind Nicolas Kuhn’s absence against Dundee United this afternoon.

Kuhn was a surprise omission from the Celtic squad that drew 0-0 earlier today. With the German being a regular starter, it was a sign that the absence was likely linked to an injury rather than anything tactical, with the Irishman discussing the situation.

He said: (The Celtic Way), “He hadn’t trained all week and then he was out on Friday. He was outside on the grass, but he just felt a little twinge yesterday in his knee, so we’re hoping that’s not going to be long-term.

“I’ll find out tomorrow, we’ll be in tomorrow and I’ll see how he’s at. He’s running okay, he’s moving okay, just a slight twinge when he passed the ball with a slight pain, so we’re hoping that he’ll be okay for Thursday.”

Hopefully, for Celtic’s sake, Kuhn is okay, as his absence would be a huge blow with a Glasgow derby in just 11 days at Ibrox.

He is certainly one player who could make a big difference against Philippe Clement’s side.

With James Forrest also out injured, the last thing Celtic need is to be relying on third-choice Yang Hyun-jun at right wing with a hectic fixture schedule ahead.

Kuhn has been Celtic’s standout player so far this season and is a real early contender for not only Celtic Player of the Year but also Scottish Premiership Player of the Year.

The German will be hopeful that he is not out for any duration of time, having just adapted to life at Celtic properly seven months after joining the Hoops.
