Brendan Rodgers Has ‘Firm Interest’ in £10m Celtic Star

Reports on Friday morning claim there is ‘firm interest’ from Leicester with regards to Celtic’s Callum McGregor this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to reshape his Leicester side and according to The Scotsman the former Celtic manager has put the midfielder on his wishlist.

The report reads:

The Scotsman understands there is firm interest in the Scotland midfielder, who celebrates his 26th birthday on Friday, from his former Celtic manager Rodgers as he prepares for his first full season in charge of Leicester City. Rodgers is expected to sanction an offer in the coming weeks for McGregor who is valued at around £10 million by Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers knows exactly what McGregor brings to the table and may look to use his relationship with the player to try and make the move happen.

The Leicester boss has a habit of picking up one or two players he’s worked with at previous clubs with Scott Sinclair a perfect example of this. Nobody will know more the qualities the Scottish midfielder brings to the table and we can only hope if the bid does get sanctioned for Callum that Celtic resist the temptation to cash in on their homegrown talent.

Callum turns 26 today and has never tried to manufacture a move away from the club.
