BRENDAN RODGERS has poured cold water over the idea he will be making a move for Yaya Toure in the January transfer window. There was a certain amount of social media speculation during the early part of this week about the midfielder coming to the club.
The rumours were then fueled by Yaya not ruling out a move to Celtic on Monday night when he was in the Sky Sports studio.
Since then, it’s all gone quiet on that front and for good reason after you’ve listened to Brendan Rodgers. Asked if he would be pursuing Kolo’s little brother the manager was straight to the point.
“We hope to do some more business if we can but there’s nothing to add to the speculation,” the Celtic boss told the Evening Times.
“Ya Ya Toure? Well, his brother’s here but he’s not one we’re looking at.”
This will be a win for anybody who hates the insufferable Yaya and Kolo Toure song. Brendan Rodgers is clear he wants to bring more people in, but after speaking last year about having a bloated squad, he needs to get a move on getting rid of players so that can happen.
Celtic take on Airdrie on Saturday with 2/3 of their signing eligible to play. Bayo is still waiting on his work permit to begin his Celtic career.
