Japanese duo Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi opened the scoring with two equally impressive goals in the first-half.

Captain Callum McGregor then scored a beauty with a quarter of an hour to go, bending the ball into the far corner from range to make it 3-0.

Today’s win means Celtic now have more wins over Rangers in Old Firms and Glasgow Derbies than what the Ibrox club have against them.

The victory also extended Brendan Rodgers’ incredible record against the Gers.

With the Celts, the Irishman has managed in 19 Glasgow derbies, and won 15. He has only lost to the Govan side once.

Simply, the Parkhead boss knows how to get the better of Rangers.

He continues to reign supreme in Glasgow, and will have enjoyed today’s thrashing as much as the supporters.

After the fallout from this afternoon ends, though, attention will soon turn to Hearts and then the Champions League.
