MOUSSA DEMBELE is expected to leave the club next year, or more specifically at the end of this season if you believe Brendan Rodgers.
Speaking back in March when many media outlets were trying to report Moussa was on his way sooner – The Irishman spoke of a two-year cycle when it came to the Frenchman.
“I believed when Moussa came that he probably had two-year cycle,” he said.
“That’s what I saw. For me, I still think that’s the case. All the conversations I have with him I have no doubt he loves it here.
“It’s just a natural process where if you’re on X amount of money and someone offers you Y amount of money, and the club get offered a ridiculous amount of money then you have to respect that.
“That’s unfortunate. I don’t like it. For me, this is a big club and we should never have to sell anyone. But because of money that is not the reality.
“If it’s the right thing to do and all parties are happy then it’s our job to make sure we’ve got the next one coming in.
Of course, these comments came earlier this year, but I think most Celtic fans knew themselves that this could be a possibility.
There still needs to be the right bid for the player. Celtic will be holding out for big money for the striker in the summer. If Moussa manages a World Cup call-up with France it could be an even more lucrative deal for the club and player should he move on.
It’s not what Celtic fans what to hear, but Rodgers has been nothing but honest with the support and is under no illusions. They’ll be making sure they have someone ready to take his place should Moussa move on.
