Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has sought to dispel the ‘myth’ that major shareholder Dermot Desmond is not particularly involved with the club and has little to no interest in it.
It comes after the Parkhead boss revealed he met with Desmond, Chief Executive Michael Nicholson, and Chief Financial Officer Chris McKay in Dublin on Tuesday to discuss areas of potential improvement within the squad ahead of the January transfer window.

With last Sunday’s dramatic Premier Sports Cup final victory, Celtic have now won 45 major trophies under the stewardship of Desmond.
Rodgers thinks he is somewhat underappreciated, and the support he shows the club is unmatched, despite criticism: “His passion, his energy and enthusiasm for Celtic, it’s unswerving,” he said (RecordSport).
“His commitment to the club is incredible. He’s not one that wants to be out there, and rightly so. But that should not mean that he’s not interested.
“Having worked here twice, I know the passion and the love he has for Celtic and his club and as a supporter. These types of things sometimes come up if the team loses a game. But it’s all a myth.
“He’s so unswerving in his commitment to Celtic. And the support I’ve had from him over my two spells has been incredible. So it was nice really to get spend some hours just looking at where we’re at and how we go forward, January and beyond.”
There are several key areas Rodgers and Co. will be looking to strengthen in the January transfer window.
While Kieran Tierney has been widely linked with an emotional Parkhead return, given recent confirmation that James Forrest will be out injured for six weeks, surely signing a winger will be high up on the to-do list next month.
The window doesn’t open for another week and a half, though, and throughout January, Celtic have nine games alone.
Rodgers will have to maintain the consistency of results amid an arduous schedule while keeping a keen focus on strengthening his squad.
