Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers admitted on Friday night that the Hoops hope to have a new goalkeeper in place for the beginning of the new season.

The Parkhead boss understands the criticality of signing a new number one to fill the gaping hole in the squad left by the retired Joe Hart.
Several stoppers have been linked with moves to Glasgow this summer. Speculation surrounding Martin Dubravka increased after Slovakia were painstakingly eliminated from the Euros last Sunday night, but it appears Peter Vindahl Jensen of Sparta Prague remains the top target.
Another name that has been mentioned as a potential option is Kasper Schmeichel. The Dane worked with Rodgers at Leicester, and the boss was asked about a potential reunion post-match versus Ayr on Friday.
“Kasper’s a very, very good one”, he said (Football Scotland).
“I know Kasper very well. But there are lots of names. and clearly I’m not going to tell you who those names are.”
With less than a month until the real stuff begins for Celtic, supporters will be hoping for an increase in transfer activity over the next few weeks.
The need for new additions to the squad increases as the days go by, but the manager is well aware of that and hopes to have a few new faces in before the champions jet out to the USA for some friendlies.
