Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he plans to have three strikers in the Hoops’ first-team for the new 2024/25 campaign.

Despite Kyogo Furuhashi being in fine fettle this pre-season, the boss wants two other centre-forwards to support the 29-year-old. He had Kyogo, Adam Idah, and Oh Hyeon-gyu for the second half of last term but this time around, he wants some different profiles.
Rodgers recently lifted the lid on his plan, admitting that he wants two strikers of equal calibre and another younger player he can help develop.
He said (RecordSport): “I think my ideal scenario was to have three, was to have Kyogo, one other one and bring through a young player.
“It’s very difficult for a club of this size to have three number-one strikers. You can live with two because we play so many games and the specific nature of the games then we can change it about.
“Three is very difficult. But I also think for development I want to bring some young, maybe a player from within.
“Rocco was that but he’s moved on. So we may have to look elsewhere. But three is a really good number.”
Despite the plan, Kyogo remains the sole first-team striker at the champions amid Oh’s exit just over a week ago.
The manager’s idealistic scenario would likely have been to have Kyogo, Idah, and Vata as his three centre-forwards. The latter, though, decided the grass was greener with Watford while the permanent acquisition of his fellow Irishman seems a while away yet.
With competitive action commencing in less than a fortnight, the club will have to get a move on.
