Brendan Rodgers Delivers Disappointing Celtic Deadline Day Update

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has offered some insights into the club’s plans, tempering expectations while confirming that a deal for Paulo Bernardo is nearing completion.

Speaking to the media, Rodgers described Bernardo as “a young player that’s coming in with potential. He gives us strength and depth in midfield.”

However, the Irishman was less optimistic about the prospect of additional signings, stating, “I don’t think there will be many more coming in.” While this doesn’t entirely rule out further activity, it does little to boost the hopes of Celtic fans who were anticipating more reinforcements, particularly in the left-back position.

It appears that time has run out for the Scottish champions to fill that specific role before the midnight deadline.

Rodgers’ comments come amid a flurry of transfer activity for Celtic, who have been both acquiring new talent and fending off interest in existing players. The club recently rejected a £10 million bid from Leeds United for midfielder Matt O’Riley and has been involved in several other negotiations.

As the clock ticks towards the midnight deadline, Rodgers’ update sets the stage for what could be a quieter-than-expected end to a hectic transfer window for Celtic.

While the almost certain arrival of Bernardo will bolster the midfield, it seems that any hopes for a last-minute left-back signing have dwindled. With the window closing imminently, Celtic fans will be watching closely, although it appears that major surprises are unlikely.
