Brendan Rodgers Delights In Celtic Mentality In Vital Glasgow Derby Win

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers hailed his side’s mentality in an enormous win in the course of the Scottish Premiership title race.

Despite a poor second-half showing where the Hoops failed to add to their 2-1 halftime lead with Rangers down to 10 men, ultimately, when it has mattered most against Rangers this season, they have shown their class.

Rodgers said: [Sky Sports], “We shouldn’t have that finish to the game but the guys showed great mentality. It’s three victories we’ve had against Rangers in four games.

“It’s there for us now. We have to go and win it. We can see the finish line, we’ve just got to get over that.”

Rodgers’ calm yet optimistic words highlight that he is not going to criticise his team for winning a vital game despite the chance to score more goals.

Ultimately, they could have won by more, but the three points were really the most important aspect ahead of the game.

With the chance to win the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, things are looking rosy at Celtic after an interesting season, to say the least.

Rodgers himself has faced over-the-top criticism throughout the season but has managed it and given some back on occasion, which is fair considering the personal attacks he has faced at times, questioning his character and commitment to the club.
