Brendan Rodgers couldn’t help but radiate joy and Celtic pride after witnessing his team’s strategic play and refusal to make hasty decisions, resulting in a thrilling, last-minute victory over Motherwell.

Rodgers watched, filled with joy, as Matt O’Riley secured the decisive goal in the 97th minute, ensuring Celtic walked away with all three points. This came after a quick equaliser by Spittal, and an initial lead was taken by Luis Palma in the 87th minute.
Rodgers expressed his satisfaction over his squad’s ability to maintain composure and stick to their playstyle, even after losing their lead during the additional time, instead of resorting to rushed long-ball tactics. The squad’s tranquil and methodical approach led to Greg Taylor delivering a precise cross to O’Riley, resulting in the winning goal. You could actually see the full-back pause and look for the runner before floating it into the box.
Speaking to the Celtic Website, Rodgers said:
“I think the calmness was what won it in the end. We didn’t just go lumping the ball forward, especially when they got the equaliser. We worked it, we got into good areas and then when we were in the right areas, we delivered.
“So I’m really proud of the team. They’re building this resilience and this mentality under a differenct manager and I’m very proud of them today.
“It was a great cross by Greg and Matty’s got another goal, arriving in the box and it was a fantastic finish.
“So, all in all, a great win for us and fantastic for the supporters behind the goal.”
