Brendan Rodgers has discussed his decision to bench Nicolas Kühn for this afternoon’s match against St Mirren at the SMiSA Stadium.
Rodgers confirmed on Friday during his pre-match press conference that Kühn had suffered an injury, though he did not specify the nature of the injury.
Today, he provided greater detail on the situation.
He said: (Sky Sports), “He hasn’t trained all week. He has a slight issue with his back.
“He has done some gentle jogging and then increased his level yesterday.
“He wasn’t fit enough to start the game, we feel but I’m sure at some point today he will make an impact.”
Kühn will likely play a significant role off the bench and has been sensational in recent weeks.
With James Forrest starting on the right wing, the Celtic veteran picked up an assist for Callum McGregor’s sensational opener.
Celtic currently lead 1-0 in the game with 28 minutes played.
