Brendan Rodgers Clarifies “Fun” Comments In Candid Interview

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hit out at suggestions that he disrespected Rangers in the build-up to today’s match at Celtic Park

Speaking with Sky Sports pre-match, the Irishman addressed in detail the media frenzy that surrounded his claims that Celtic will have fun in today’s match.

Rodgers said: [Sky Sports],”I’ve seen some of the headlines since that, and from my perspective, all without merit. I never once said the game was a fun game. The games are tense, the games are passionate. There’s a tactical element to the game, of course, there’s tension around.

“So, I think there were words that were taken out of context in how they were presented. To truthfully or anyone else, if they listen to what was actually said, then that wasn’t the intention or never will be the intention.”

Rodgers has, at times this season, been targeted by the media for any comments that can be taken out of context in any way.

It’s no surprise that he felt the need to yet again shut down the situation, as it certainly was not what he intended when he spoke post-match against Hearts.

Despite facing pressure from the media all season, the Irishman has ultimately thrived, a testament to his resilience and ability to work under the greatest pressure, which are vital traits in being the manager of Celtic.
