Ahead of Celtic’s upcoming match against Dundee, manager Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that his attackers need to rise to the occasion.
The Premiership leaders are set to host Dundee at Celtic Park this Saturday.
Celtic’s recent triumph, a 1-0 victory over Rangers driven by a Kyogo Furuhashi goal, should have bolstered the team’s confidence. However, memories of their last home match against St Johnstone still linger. Despite their best efforts, Celtic couldn’t find a way past St Johnstone’s steadfast defence, resulting in a goalless draw.
Dundee, freshly promoted and under the management of Tony Docherty, will most likely adopt a similar defensive strategy. The Dundee side, having lost only one of their first four league matches, seems likely to focus on a defensive game during their clash in Glasgow.
Acknowledging this potential challenge, Rodgers emphasised the need for his team to adapt and overcome such tactics. He stated: [Celtic TV]
“It’s up to us to find the solutions. In the St Johnstone game we could have scored four or five goals but didn’t, their keeper had a great day and we just didn’t put away our chances. I expect Tony’s team to be well organised.
“I’ve seen the games and they’ve been unfortunate as well in some of those not to have got better results.
“It’ll be a tough game for us. And that’s what you expect. You have to focus really on yourselves, do your work and work well, and hopefully, we can get the three points.”
