Brendan Rodgers has spoken about the chats he’s had with Kieran Tierney ahead of the defender’s return to Celtic this summer. Tierney has signed a pre-contract and will reunite with Rodgers, who he worked brilliantly with during the Irishman’s first spell at the club.
Tierney’s return is a huge boost for Celtic. He’s a player who knows the club inside out, having come through the academy and won several trophies before moving to Arsenal in 2019. Since then, he’s picked up valuable experience in the Premier League and in Europe, and now he’s ready to return home.

He said: (Celtic FC YouTube), “No, I know he will be. I haven’t spoken to him a lot of late.
“We’ve exchanged messages and stuff, but I know his love of the club and excitement to come back here.
“So yes, I’m sure he’s champing at the bit to get back.”

Tierney’s return is a major coup for Celtic, both on and off the pitch. A fan favourite and academy graduate, the Scotland international brings proven quality and leadership, with the experience of playing in the Premier League and Champions League since leaving for Arsenal in 2019.
Rodgers’ role in bringing Tierney back cannot be overlooked. The Irishman was instrumental in Tierney’s development during his first spell at the club, and their strong relationship has clearly played a part in the full-back’s decision to return home.
With Celtic getting ready for a big finish to this season and looking ahead to next, Tierney coming back shows Rodgers is building a strong team. He wants a squad that can keep winning in Scotland and do well in Europe again, like they did in this season’s Champions League.
