When these names were put to the Irishman after watching his team fall to a 6-4 defeat in Japan, the Celtic manager made it clear he didn’t even know who they were. “I don’t even know them, to be honest.” he told Record Sport.

The Celtic transfer rumour mill has been going into hyperdrive with journalists, agents and pundits trying to guess second how Celtic will play the rest of the transfer window.

Rodgers has stated he’s still assessing his full squad and will look to add quality where he feels they need it going forward.

The SPFL kicks off in under three weeks when the bhoys raise the league flag at Paradise. Celtic take on Ross County in the opener and the fixtures come thick and fast after that.

The transfer window runs until the end of August, so fans can expect players to come in after the SPFL kicks off.

Rodgers wasn’t too down spirited after the Yokohama defeat. “If we won 5-0 it wouldn’t have mattered either.” Rodgers declared.” The priority is getting the players ready for when it matters.

“It’s quite a hard ask for the players to arrive late on the Monday, adapt to the time and then play in that heat against a very good team who are well into the season. We had some very good moments in the game and scored some good goals.”

“We gave away poor goals I wouldn’t expect us to be losing later on in pre-season. It’s still a period we are developing the structure and the fitness. It was a really good exercise for us. It was always going to be a challenge, firstly from a physical perspective.”

Celtic take on Osaka on Saturday before returning home to prepare for their trip to Dublin.
