Brendan Rodgers Addresses Celtic Future

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed his Celtic future for next season, with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

The Irishman confirmed, despite speculation from some in England that he would replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, he will be Celtic boss next season.

Rodgers previously said at his first press conference when he was announced as Celtic boss for his second spell that he would be the Hoops manager for three years, unless he was sacked.

After the way he left the club in February 2019 for Leicester City, Rodgers made sure to ease any fears that he would leave early for a second time again this afternoon.

He said: (Clyde 1 Superscoreboard), “No, I was just asked the question, but for any avoidance of doubt, because I was surprised when I got asked the question.

“I think if you were sat in my press conference here on the very first day I arrived, I promised unless I was removed I’d be here for three years, minimum. So nothing changes.”

“So I was only really talking about, I suppose, just in terms of team dynamic and how the game works. But no, there’s absolutely no doubt. Unless Dermot (Desmond) tells me differently in the summer, I will be excited and ready for the beginning of the season.”

Rodgers was never going to be sacked, and to be fair to the Irishman, when he returned to Celtic, he was quick to confirm that he would see out the three years of the deal he signed.

Speculation from some that he was unhappy at Celtic with the recent transfer window has clearly been squashed. He looks happy to go into next season.

However, the question will be if he will possibly sign an extension to his current deal beyond next season.

Having achieved so much yet again in his second spell at the club, Celtic supporters will be desperate to see him here for years to come, even possibly sealing ten in a row, like many of us hoped he would do in his first spell.

But that remains to be seen, with the next four months sure to be interesting.
