Two Match Ban for Reckless Celtic Park Challenge

ABERDEEN’S Scott McKenna has been offered a two-match ban for his ‘tackle’ on Odsonne Edouard at the weekend.

The defender who was a summer Celtic target lunged into the French striker during his side’s defeat to Celtic at the weekend.

At the time, the referee Bobby Madden took no action against the defender for such a reckless challenge.

It was clear to everyone in the stadium apart from Madden and his officials that a bad foul had been committed.

What made it worse – Madden told Edouard to get back up after the incident like he had gone down too easy to begin with.

The French striker was subbed minutes after the collision and played no further part in the match.

The compliance officer has reviewed the footage and believed an injustice has taken place. McKenna should have seen a straight red at the time and a penalty should have been awarded to Celtic.

The SFA await Aberdeen’s response.
