Former Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has completed a permanent move to Belgian champions Club Brugge.

He has spent the last three years of his career at Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin where he was made club captain last season.
Hertha didn’t have the best of campaigns last year and managed to avoid relegation after they defeated Hamburg in the Bundesliga relegation play-offs with Boyata scoring early on in the second leg of the away match.
Despite having helped his side stay up he was told that he had no future left at the club before he was stripped of the captaincy which led to his eventual move back to his homeland.

During his four year stint in Glasgow, the former Manchester City academy star had a successful time being an integral part in Brendan Rodgers side.
The Belgian international signed by Ronny Deila also had a spell under Neil Lennon during his final months at the club. During his time in Glasgow Boyata won four league titles, three Scottish Cups and two league cups.
His time in Glasgow didn’t lack some controversy when the defender tried to force his way out of Celtic under Rodgers before a crucial Champions League tie against AEK Athens. He did manage to find his way back into the team and ended up being named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year that season.

Boyata will link up with his former Hoops defensive partner Jack Hendry at Brugge but it may not be for long with reports suggesting the Scotland international may be on his way to Burnley.
