Boli Bolingoli was substituted in the first half of Celtic’s thumping Champions League win against Kalju on Wednesday night after the player seemingly had trouble with his ankle. Receiving treatment for a knock five minutes before being substituted seemed to suggest that was the problem.
However, Neil Lennon confirmed to Celtic TV the defender was suffering from illness and was feeling nauseous before coming off.
“He was feeling nauseous, feeling a little bit light-headed and crampy in the stomach so we took him off as a precaution.” Lennon confirmed.
“Hopefully he’ll be okay in a few days but he’s just feeling a bit viral at the minute”
Celtic didn’t skip a beat without the full-back and went into overdrive in his absence. Mikey Johnstone came on for Boli and a had a great game for the bhoys.
Celtic battered Kalju 5-0 thanks to goals from Ryan Christie (2) and a goal a piece for Kristoffer Ajer, Callum McGregor and Leigh Griffiths.
The club now heads to Estonia in a weeks time with the game all but over. Neil Lennon could be tempted to rest some of his first team stars before the SPFL opener a week on Saturday.
