Bobby Madden Breaks Silence on Ibrox Season Ticket Rumour

BOBBY MADDEN has broken his silence on his experiences within the game and how he is perceived by many.

The SFA whistler has come in for some heavy criticism over the years with the big one being he supports a certain Ibrox club. Like most Gers fans, it seems he’d like to keep that quiet!

However, one of the big rumours over the past few years is Bobby Madden’s status when it came to owning an Ibrox season ticket. In the interview with Superscoreboard, the referee does not refute being a Gers fan but he does deny ever holding a season ticket with the club. Madden cites not having the time to go support any club because of work commitments.

That’s all well and good but the fact there’s an opportunity for Gers supporters to officiate Gers games, or vice versa means there’s always going to be a level of scrutiny after a match.

The English Premier League currently make their referees divulge their allegiance and are NOT allowed to referee games that include their supported club. Not only for fans sake but for their own piece of mind that they can’t be accused of favouring one team over another because of who they support. It protects the referees from any sort of accusation of bias.

It’s not implementable in Scotland because of the sheer volume of supporters of one club who seem to monopolise top-flight refereeing.

But if it’s any consolation Madden doesn’t appear to have held an Ibrox season ticket.
