Boardroom Whispers; Major Celtic Shake Up: Report

Celtic are in need of fresh ideas going forward. Even the most successful of football boards needs new blood and a new way of thinking in order not to become stale.

Football Insider are reporting Celtic are set for a boardroom shake up at the end of this season with Dermot appointing his son Ross to the board.

Ross Desmond has attended the last two Celtic AGMs on behalf of his dad but has not had any official role at the club.

According to his LinkedIn page, Ross is a principal at investment company Ventura Holdings, but is ready to spearhead a shake up within the club.

Dermot Desmond usually gives his scoops to The Sun over the years so we’d take this report with a pinch of salt right now.

It would stand to reason Ross taking on a bigger role considering he’s took a keen interest in the club over the past few years. Dermot has not intention of running things or being hands on and will like always, delegate to others.

If Ross does come in, he could look to change the old guard and begin a new era at the club. Would Peter Lawwell stay on in that scenario? Having been at the club almost twenty years, you can’t bet against him still being here but he would likely have to yield some of his power to Ross.
