Blast from the Past – Former Celt’s Son Signs Pro-Deal at Parkhead

If you’re old enough to remember Rudi Vata in the Celtic team, prepare to feel that little bit older.

Vata’s son, Rocco, has signed his first professional deal with the Hoops this week.

Rudi played with Celtic from 1992 to 1996; as we all know, the 90s were not a good time for the Hoops and Vata has the one Scottish Cup to his name as a Celtic player – the famous Hampden under Tommy Burns.

The Albanian is still a Celtic fan to this day and will be proud his son has managed to land a deal through his own merit.

Rocco’s mother took to social media to share her delight.

The president of Albania, Ilir Meta will be delighted with the move. The politician became a Celtic fan when Rudi Vata gifted him a Hoops shirt. Since a chance meeting with Celtic fans a few years ago, the Albanian president always posts about Celtic on his social media feed.

It will be great to see if Rocco can make his way into the first team eventually. A young boy right now, but given Celtic are making positive changes to their youth system, he and others could benefit going forward.
