Bizarre Moritz Jenz Celtic Scenario

Former Celtic defender Moritz Jenz is in line for a League winners medal if Celtic wrap up the SPFL title in the coming weeks likes everyone expects.

The German centre-back spent the first half of the season in Glasgow where he played in a substantial run of games that contributed to the Hoops taking a nine point lead into the new year.

Once Carl Starfelt was back from injury and Kobayashi came in the door, there was little hope for Moritz getting meaningful game time during the second half of the season.

The big man and Celtic decided to part ways so he could go find first team football. Another loan move was lined up to struggling Schalke.

The former Celtic defender came into the Bundesliga side and made an instant impact. He helped steady a rocky defence and helped get the German’s some points on the board.

There is no doubt there has been an up turn in fortune for Jenz and Schalke since he joined. However, the German side are still facing the real possibility of relegation.

It’s tight at the bottom of the Bundesliga. Schalke are in the relegation zone with six games to play.

17th and 18th spot are automatic relegation and 16th is a playoff spot.

Three of Schalke’s last six games are against Bayern, Leipzig and Frankfurt. It’s going to take a monumental effort for Moritz and Schalke to beat the drop.

While we wish the big man all the best for the run in, there’s the distinct possibility he’ll become a champion of one country while being relegated in another.
