Ben Siegrist Takes Another Celtic Board Dig After Deadline Day Shambles

Ben Siegrist appears to have reignited tensions with Celtic after posting a cryptic message on Instagram in the hours following the close of the transfer window.

The now Genoa stopper, who earlier this summer hit out at the club for allegedly mishandling two potential exits, shared a simple but pointed Instagram story: “Some things never change.”

While he didn’t name names or tag the club directly, the timing – and the context – make the target of his frustration pretty clear.

Siegrist has been vocal in his criticism of the board’s handling of outgoing deals, previously claiming that two potential moves away from Parkhead collapsed due to slow or indecisive action from those at the top. He’s been stuck on the fringes of the first team with little prospect of minutes under Brendan Rodgers.

His latest post comes just as Celtic fans are expressing widespread discontent over a chaotic and underwhelming transfer window. Winger Hyunjun Yang travelled to England for a proposed move to Birmingham City, only for it to fall through amid claims the club delayed in signing off on the deal. Adam Idah’s exit was also touch-and-go, while Stephen Welsh saw a loan move to Plymouth collapse before he eventually sealed a switch to Motherwell.

Siegrist’s message could be interpreted as a dig at the recurring theme of late movement, indecision, and a lack of strategic planning. In a summer where Celtic’s hierarchy are under intense scrutiny, it’s yet another voice adding to the chorus of frustration.
