MICHAEL STEWART has sent an ominous warning to Celtic’s rivals after they failed to make the grade in the Champions League.
It was a good night if you were a Celtic fan – not just because it was funny to watch them set themselves up for a fall but their exit makes sure they don’t receive a Champions League payday that could see them move well ahead of Celtic in terms of finances and personnel.

Stewart has pointed out not only has the Ibrox club missed out on big money to bring in more players – he has predicted them selling some of their best assets because of the failure.
Champions League money isn’t coming into Ibrox and surely that’ll mean they need to sell players to try and balance this years accounts. Which will obviously have an impact on the team on the pitch.

Celtic missed out on the Champions League for the fourth season and while every club’s finances are precarious they have made money elsewhere from large transfer fees.
The Hoops are in a rebuild phase and most players who are currently at the club will be staying there.
There’s huge question marks over Odsonne Edouard and there’s a nervousness about the Frenchman running down his contract.
Celtic absolutely can put the pressure on the newly crowned champions this season – especially if Stewart’s prediction comes true.
