DEREK FERGUSON believes that the gap between Celtic and The Rangers is closer, despite the gap actually extending at the weekend.

Since Beale came in, the point gap hadn’t widened until the derby at Parkhead, but Celtic continued to pull away in the goal difference charts.
Celtic managed to extend their lead to 12 points on Saturday, after defeating the Ibrox side 3-2, even though they did not perform at their very best.
Derek Ferguson, appearing on the Open Goal podcast, said:
“You were looking for Rangers to close the gap and thats because Celtic are away out there.
“You can see that the gap is a wee bit closer, but there is still a bit to go.”
James McFadden disagreed with the former Rangers midfielder, saying:
“I’m not sure about that.”
The Rangers played to stop Celtic from playing their football, they weren’t going for the win. Having watched the game back, it’s clear to see that they were looking to cause Celtic trouble from set pieces and balls into the box, their attacking game plan wasn’t too dissimilar to any other Scottish team that comes to Parkhead.
To claim the gap is closer, despite it extending, is delusional. It’s quite worried that people are believing this.
