BARRY FERGUSON has put a halt to the Celtic myth the players aren’t playing for Neil Lennon.
The talk after a poor run of form has been about Neil Lennon being able to get the best of of the current crop and if they have stopped believing in their manager.
However, the former midfielder told Go Radio, the idea the players aren’t turning up for Neil Lennon just isn’t true.
“They’re going through a tough time but good players always come out the other end.” Ferguson told GoRadio as cited by RecordSport.
“Celtic showed that on Sunday. I thought in the first 45 minutes, they were superb.
“They weren’t as good in the second half but you’ve got to remember you’re going to Fir Park – it’s a tough place to go.
“They had a few chances but once Motherwell scored Celtic regained it again and Elyounoussi got his hat-trick.
“They were convincing in the end, I thought.”
It’s crazy to think you get more positive comments from Ferguson than you do from the majority of the former Celtic players who are pundits.
Barry will also be hedging his bets and not want to go all-in on declaring Celtic dead in the water in case it comes back to haunt him as many pundits have experienced over the past three years.
For Celtic fans, the win at Motherwell was vital but nobody is getting over-excited as this team can produce some very poor performances. We need to be more consistent before we can really look ahead with confidence.
