Time’s Up for Expensive Celtic Mistake

I’ve came to the defence of Vasilis Barkas since he’s came into the club. The first time he was dropped by the manager I felt he needed a run of games and time to settle in.

However, since then, the goalkeeper has done nothing to gain my confidence in goals and any hope I had of him turning his own season around was lost against Livingston.

The goalkeeper’s positioning has been suspect many times this season and watching him flap about the box during the Livi away game confirmed to me the goalkeeper needs to be pulled.

£4.5m signing or not, if it’s not working you don’t keep going.

The counter argument to Vasilis would be he hasn’t had the safety of a proper defence this season, I’ll agree with that to a certain extent but the goalkeeper has yet to make a decent save. There’s not been a moment when I’ve thought, that should have been a certain goal but the goalkeeper has come up big.

Sometimes signings don’t work out, and this looks like an expensive mistake. While Scott Bain has his own deficiencies, he should be Celtic’s number one until we can bring a new man into the club.
