Celtic goalkeeper Vasilias Barkas could reportedly be set for an early exit in the summer according to reports in Greece.

As reported by Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, who was also one of the first reporters to break the news of Barkas’ move to Scotland and he has now confirmed that the goalkeeper could be set for a move away from the club just a year after joining the club.

The same journo also claims Celtic are likely to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer.

Barkas has been a very controversial figure in the Celtic goal this season with many fans having differing opinions on the Hoops number one.

As much as he hasn’t been as good as a lot of supporters would have hoped it could be argued that the 26-year old hasn’t been given a fair shot for the club.

The goalkeeping situation has been short of shambolic at the club this season, using all three keepers within the space of a few months which certainly doesn’t help the defensive line to settle and that has been evident this campaign.

Ultimately, letting go of Barkas would be a harsh decision in my opinion because he wasn’t given a fair crack at the whip overall. Being taken in and out of the side regularly, whilst not really making any howlers and add to that playing behind one of the poorest Celtic defensive lines in years.

However, I do understand the club’s stance on this matter a little bit. With a huge rebuild on the way, we have to be confident and sure what the plan is and they may not see that with Barkas going forward.
